The following information is for publishing websites on Comp or Cavern with Adobe Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is available for use in the Student Technology Center and the Faculty Technology Center. The following information is for Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 and CS4.
Dreamweaver CS5
- Click Site, then Manage Sites or choose Manage Sites in the default dialog box.
- Click New
- Enter a site name.
- Select a Site Folder by browsing to the folder where you keep copies of your website files.
- Click the Advanced tab for the instructions below.
- Browse to your default images folder inside your website folder.
- Your HTTP address is the URL for your homepage, which should look like the examples below:
- On Comp: http://comp.uark.edu/~username
- On Cavern: http://www.uark.edu/PreviousDirectory/username/
- Select Server from the left navigation.
- Click the plus symbol below the window.
- Type in the server name: comp.uark.edu or cavern.uark.edu
- Choose Connect Using FTP. The FTP Host is either comp.uark.edu or cavern.uark.edu, depending on where your website is located.
- For Comp, enter your UARK username and password in the Login and Password fields. For Cavern, enter the username and password given for the account. If you are using an existing department account, please contact your supervisor for login information.
- In the Root Directory field, Comp users should enter public_html. For sites on Cavern, leave this field blank.
Dreamweaver CS4
- Click Site, then Manage Sites.
- Click New, then Site.
- Click the Advanced tab for the instructions below.
Local Info
- Enter the site name.
- Local root folder is where you keep copies of your website files on your local computer.
- HTTP address is the URL for your homepage, which should look like the examples below:
- On Comp: http://comp.uark.edu/~username
- On Cavern: http://www.uark.edu/PreviousDirectory/username/
Remote Info
- Select FTP from the Access drop-down menu. Check the "Use Secure FTP (SFTP)" box.
- The FTP Host is either comp.uark.edu or cavern.uark.edu, depending on where your website is located.
- In the Host Directory field, Comp users should enter public_html. For sites on Cavern, leave this field blank.
- For Comp, enter your UARK username and password in the Login and Password fields. For Cavern, enter the username and password given for the account. If you are using an existing department account, please contact your supervisor for login information.
