UARK Gmail Features
You are here: Home → Student Email → UARK Gmail Features
In addition to the new UARK Gmail, students also have access to Google Calendar, Drive, and Talk. While Google continues to refine its products to ensure full ADA compliance, however, students cannot be required to use these features. The following features can be accessed by logging into email.uark.edu with your UARK Gmail address (for example, rahogs@email.uark.edu) and your UARK password. Features are linked at the top of the page.
Google Drive
Google Drive is a suite of products that lets you create different kinds of online documents, work on them in real time with other people, and store documents and other files online. With an Internet connection, you can access your documents and files from any computer anywhere. Some work is possible without an Internet connection.
Because Google Drive is missing some key accessibility functions, its use is not recommended for sharing documents with images and/or tables.
Google Calendar
Google Calendar is an Internet calendar that helps you keep track of events and manage personal and professional schedules. You can also share your calendar with others.
Google Talk
Google Talk allows you to make voice calls, send instant messages, transfer files, and leave voicemail messages using a downloadable Windows application.
Once you've installed Google Talk on your computer, log in with your UARK Gmail address (username@email.uark.edu) and your Mobile/IMAP password for UARK Gmail (set this password using Password Manager). Your UARK Gmail contacts will automatically be included in your Google Talk Friends list.
To make calls with Google Talk, you need an Internet connection, a microphone, and a speaker. To make voice calls, transfer files, and leave voice messages, the contact must also be using the Google Talk Windows application. For optimal voice quality, a headset is recommended. All calls are free to anywhere in the world.
