Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 4 to 11 p.m.
The Blackboard Learn Platform at learn.uark.edu is a web-based course management system. Using Blackboard Learn, students and faculty can participate in classes delivered online or access online materials and activities to complement face-to-face classroom experiences.
Blackboard Learn features include:
- Email, discussion boards, and chat communication tools
- Grade book and assessment tools
- Assignment submission and plagiarism detection
- Other tools for incorporating and linking content, providing information, and exchanging files and other sources
An entire online course can be created in Blackboard Learn or materials can be published to supplement existing courses. Courses in Blackboard Learn have built-in visual themes using individual color schemes, page layout, etc. Minimal technical expertise on the part of the faculty or students is required.
Third-party software is supported within Blackboard Learn:
- Respondus, a software application simplifying test creation and enhancing the security of the online testing environment
- Blackboard Collaborate (formerly Elluminate), a virtual environment with a common whiteboard, chat, voice-over-IP, and simultaneous webcams
- SafeAssign, a plagiarism prevention service offered by Blackboard Learn
Support
The Faculty Technology Center staff supports and trains faculty in digitizing, updating, or creating course content in formats suitable for integration into Blackboard Learn. The center also supports faculty in creating assessments, course design, and instructional design within Blackboard Learn.

Faculty who require the option to view a Blackboard Learn course as a student may request a Blackboard StudentView Account using the Account ID Request form. Enter "blackboard" in the Cost Center field. More information on StudentView accounts can be found at bbsupport.uark.edu/studentview.
