The ITSNews Listserv (formerly UITSNews) sends timely announcements to the university community regarding a variety of IT subjects, including outages, security concerns, new systems on campus, campus events, and technology training. Messages sent by ITSNews average fewer than 12 per month.

Topics

1: Building Outages include announcements concerning interruption of service to specific buildings on campus, such as network outages. IT Services recommends that all building supervisors and administrative staff subscribe to this topic.

2: Emergency Announcements alert users to unexpected system failures or service downtimes.

3: General Announcements highlight new technology systems being implemented on campus and other IT-related topics of interest to the university community.

4: Outages include announcements of planned downtime for university systems, including Blackboard, BASIS, network, the university web presence, and other services.

5: Security announcements alert and educate the university community about new email scams and online security vulnerabilities.

6: Software Licensing includes announcements about software packages available from IT Services under a campus site license, including SAS, SPSS, JMP, SigmaPlot, and Mathematica.

7: Training announcements provide students, faculty, and staff with information about opportunities to get specialized technology training on systems used by the university community, such as Blackboard.
