IT Services is in the process of rolling out UARK Gmail as the new official student email. You will receive important messages and announcements from university officials, faculty, and others through your University of Arkansas email. Check this mailbox frequently for new messages.Get Your UARK Account
To log into UARK Gmail, you will need your UARK username and password. If you have not already done so, activate your UARK account at PASSweb. For more information, see New Account.
UARK Gmail
During the first phase of the rollout, IT Services invites students to opt in to UARK Gmail. Students with contacts saved in XpressMail must export address books before opting in. The number of students opting in concurrently is limited.
Students working with export-controlled data are not eligible for opt-in at this time. Contact your professor or primary investigator to verify your research status.
About UARK Gmail
Your UARK Gmail address is username@email.uark.edu. You also have access to Google Calendar, Docs, and Talk. While Google continues to refine its products to ensure full ADA compliance, however, students cannot be required to use these features.
After completing the opt-in process, log into UARK Gmail at email.uark.edu with your UARK and password. Your email quota is 25 GB, and the attached file size limit is 20 MB. Be aware, to log out of UARK Gmail, you must quit your browser.
The UA Directory address book is not available in UARK Gmail at this time. To search for university email addresses, go to UA Directory in your web browser.
Graduate assistants, student workers, student researchers working with export-controlled data, and students requesting ADA accommodation might require a Microsoft Exchange mailbox in addition to UARK Gmail. Email sent to username@uark.edu is delivered to the Exchange mailbox, and email sent to username@email.uark.edu is delivered to the UARK Gmail mailbox.
Setting Up UARK Gmail
You can set up your UARK Gmail mailbox in a desktop email application or on a mobile device. However, to do so, you must first create a UARK Gmail Mobile/IMAP password in PASSweb. To keep your UARK password secure, this password is separate from your regular UARK password used to access your web-based UARK Gmail, Blackboard, wireless, and other university services. Get more information and step-by-step instructions on creating your UARK Gmail Mobile/IMAP password.
