Wireless

IT Services is rolling out two wireless networks, UA Wireless and UA Secure. During the rollout period, some buildings on campus will have the new networks while others will remain on the UA-WLAN network. Over time, UA Wireless and UA Secure will replace UA-WLAN in all buildings. Users can determine which system is in place in any building by checking the available wireless networks in the Mac or Windows internet settings.

UA Secure is the recommended network for UARK users as it offers unrestricted and secure access to all web locations and services.

Set up UA Secure:
Windows | Mac | Mobile

Troubleshooting Note: If you are experiencing problems connecting to UA Secure, remove the connection profile from your device and set up the connection again using the UA Secure Setup instructions.

Set up UA-WLAN:
Windows | Mac | Mobile

UA Wireless does not require setup and is an unsecure guest network that allows access to the web, but blocks other services such as printing. To access UA Wireless, choose it from the list of available networks, open your web browser, and enter any valid email address (e.g. jsmith@anywhere.com).

Wireless Routers

Routers are prohibited on campus because they can inhibit traffic flow through the network, impacting others who share the same local network.

Public Ports

Publically accessible network ports are located on floors three, four, five, and six of the Arkansas Union, as well as floors two, three, and four of Mullins Library. An ethernet cable (CAT-5) is needed. See the map of wired access locations in the Mullins Library lobby.
