Student Account Security: Multi-Factor Authentication

As part of an ongoing commitment to secure student data, incoming students for the fall 2021 semester will be enabled for multi-factor authentication on September 8. This service is already enabled for returning students and university employees.

About Multi-Factor Authentication Opt In Early

Warning! Always keep your smartphone charged and with you when accessing online services for exams, coursework, labs, etc.

What to Expect

Starting September 8, you will be prompted to provide additional information to verify your login for any UARK online service like Blackboard, Zoom or email. You will have the option to "Skip" for up to 14 days. After 14 days, you will be required to complete the registration or lose access to your account. For assistance, follow the instructions to register for multi-factor authentication.

Heads up! The Microsoft Authenticator app is the recommended method for verifying your account access. Students without a smartphone or the ability to receive text messages should create a ticket. You will be contacted by the IT Help Desk about alternatives for multi-factor authentication.
