Mapping a Drive

When you are on campus (or off campus connected via virtual private network) you can map a drive to a university hosted resource, and your computer treats it like any other drive. This means that you can save, delete, copy and move files between your computer and university hosted resources, such as MyDocs, the Microsoft IIS server or Gizmo account file space.

To map a drive, enter the path to the server or network share. Some common paths to resources on the university network are listed below. Follow these instructions for connecting with Windows and Mac.

  • Mac
    Note: Mac users with older versions of OS X might be unable to map a drive using these instructions.

Common Network Locations

Windows

It may be necessary to click Different User Name and log in using your UARK email address, for example, username@uark.edu.

  • MyDocs: \\mydocs.uark.edu\mydocs\yourUARKusername\Documents 
    Log in with your UARK username and password.
  • Microsoft IIS server: \\www1.uark.edu\foldername$ 
    You must include $ after your folder name. Log in with your UARK username and password.
  • Gizmo: \\gizmo.uark.edu\volumename
    "Volumename" is your assigned volume title. Log in with your UARK username and password.

Mac

Mac users with older versions of OS X might be unable to map a drive using these instructions.

  • MyDocs: smb://Mydocs.uark.edu/mydocs/yourUARKusername/documents
    Log in with your UARK username and password.
  • Microsoft IIS server: smb://www1.uark.edu/foldername$
    You must include $ after your foldername. Log in with your UARK username and password.
  • Gizmo: smb://gizmo.uark.edu/volumename
    "Volumename" is your assigned volume title. Log in with your UARK username and password.
