Email Contacts

Add, import, export and remove email contacts in UARK Gmail, Exchange Online, Outlook or macOS Mail (OS X Mail). 

UARK Gmail (email.uark.edu)

The UARK Gmail Help Contact Manager provides information on how to:

  • Create, edit or delete contacts
  • Create, edit or delete a contact group
  • Search for a contact
  • Send to a contact group or send to multiple contacts at once
  • Import or export contacts

Note: The Campus Directory address book is not currently available to UARK Gmail users. To search for university email addresses, go to the Campus Directory.

Exchange Online (outlook.office.com)

The following Exchange Online contact options are available at outlook.office.com:

  • Contact information for UARK users is instantly accessible through the Global Address List when composing a new email.
  • Contacts can be managed using a mobile device that supports Exchange Online syncing.

Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016 (Windows)

Export Contacts

  1. Open Outlook. Click the File tab and click Options (in Outlook 2013 and 2016, click Open & Export). Click Advanced.
  2. Click Export (in Outlook 2013 and 2016, click Import/Export). An "Import and Export Wizard" will launch.
  3. Click "Export to a file." Click Next.
  4. Under "Create a file of type," select Comma Separated Values (Windows). Click Next.
  5. Select the contact folder to export. Click Next.
  6. Click Browse and select a location to save the file. Enter a filename. Click OK.
  7. Click Next. Click Finish.

Import Contacts

  1. Open Outlook. Click the File tab and click Open (in Outlook 2013 and 2016, click Open & Export). Click Import (in Outlook 2013 and 2016, click Import/Export).
  2. Click "Import from another program or file." Click Next.
  3. Under "Select the file type to import," select Comma Separated Values (Windows). Click Next.
  4. Click Browse and select the .csv file to import. Click OK. Click Next.
  5. Select a folder for the imported contacts (usually the Contacts folder).
  6. Click Next. Click Finish.

Outlook 2011 and Outlook 2016 (Mac)

Export Contacts

  1. Open Outlook. Click File and Export.
  2. Click the radio button next to "Contacts to a list (tab-delimited text)." Click the arrow to proceed.
    In Outlook 2016, check the box next to Contacts and click Continue.
  3. Enter a filename and select a location to save the file.
    Note: Outlook 2011 contacts are saved with a .txt extension, and Outlook 2016 contacts are saved with a .olm extension.
  4. Click Save. Click Done. In Outlook 2016, click Finish.

Import Contacts

  1. Open Outlook. Click File and Import.
  2. Click "Contacts or messages from a text file." Click the arrow to proceed. In Outlook 2016, click the radio button next to the file type and click Continue.
  3. Click "Import contacts from a tab- or comma-delimited text file." Click the arrow to proceed.
  4. Select the text file to import. Click Import. In Outlook 2016, click Import and then click Finish.
  5. Map contact information fields by dragging entries from the Unmapped fields column to the Mapped fields column. Some fields from your exported contacts file may not match fields in Outlook. The matching fields should be selected to correspond as closely as possible.
  6. When you have finished mapping fields, click Import. Click Finish.

macOS Mail (OS X Mail)

Export an Address Book File

  1. Open the Contacts application.
  2. Click File and Export.
  3. Select a file format, Export vCard or Contacts Archive.
  4. Select a location. Click Save.

Import an Address Book File

  1. Open the Contacts application.
  2. Click File and Import.
  3. Select your Contacts Archive or vCard. Click Open.
  4. Confirm the import by clicking the appropriate action.
