Activate Office 2016 from Off-Campus

Activate Office 2016 on an off-campus computer for copies purchased through the Microsoft Campus Agreement.

Note: This step is not necessary for Microsoft Office software downloaded on your personal computer from Office 365.

  1. Connect to vpn.uark.edu using the Pulse Secure app. See Off-campus Network Access (VPN) for more information.
  2. Once the VPN connection is established, open Microsoft Word. Office should automatically activate. 
    Note: You might need to close and re-open Word.
  3. To view your activation status, click File and select Account. Your status is indicated on the right.

How to Activate Manually (Advanced)

Office 2016

Open an administrator command prompt and enter:

c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\cscript ospp.vbs /act
(Activates Office 2016 when connected to the campus network via VPN.)

c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus 
(Displays expiration date of current license.)

c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:kms.uark.edu 
(Sets the KMS license host manually. This is optional.)

Note: If you are using 64-bit Windows, use "Program Files (x86)"
