UAConnect: Academic Term Codes

Each term (semester) is assigned a four-digit code to identify it in UAConnect. Some terms will contain multiple sessions, such as Intersessions and Eight Week sessions. The table below desribes how to decipher and interpret this code.

Character Represents Value Description

1st character

The century of the term

0 = 20th century
1 = 21st century

0 = Term enrollment through 1999
1 = Term enrollment from 2000

2nd and 3rd character

The year of the term

99 = 1999
16 = 2016
17 = 2017
18 = 2018

The academic year begins with the Fall term. Use this for the term code.

Example: 2018 = 18

4th character

Regular Terms
Fall = 9
Spring = 3
Summer = 6

Independent Study

Regular terms are the major academic terms and may contain additional sessions within the term. Intersessions are found in the regular terms.

Independent Study terms allow grades, GPAs, and requisites to be met in advance of the Regular term.

Examples:

  • 1179 represents the Fall term of 2017
  • 1183 represents the Spring term of 2018
  • 1135 represents the Summer Independent Study term of 2018
