UAConnect: Academic Term Codes

Each term (semester) is assigned a four-digit code to idenify it in UAConnect. Some terms will contain multiple sessions, such as Eight Week sessions. The table below desribes how to decipher and interpret this code. 

Character Represents Value Description

1st character

The century of the term

0 = 20th century
1 = 21st century

0 = Term enrollment through 1999
1 = Term enrollment from 2000

2nd and 3rd character

The year of the term

99 = 1999
12 = 2012
13 = 2013
14 = 2014

The academic year begins with the Fall term. Use this for the term code.

Example: 2012 = 12

4th character

The actual term

Regular Terms
Fall = 9
Spring = 3
Summer = 6

Independent Study
Fall = 2
Spring = 5
Summer = 8

Regular terms are the major academic terms and tmay contain additional sessions within the term. 

Intersession terms occur between the Regular terms.

Independent Study terms allow grades, GPAs, and requisites to be met in advance of the Regular term.

Century=21st, term year = 2012, term = Fall 9 (regular term) 

Examples:

  • 1129 represents the Fall term of 2012.
  • 1133 represents the Spring term of 2013
  • 1134 represents the May Intersession term of 2013
  • 1138 represents the Summer Independent Study term of 2013
