UARK Wi-Fi Windows Setup

Windows 10

  1. Open the Start Menu and click Settings.
  2. Click "Network & Internet" and select UARK Wi-Fi.
  3. Click Connect.

Troubleshooting note: If you are experiencing problems connecting, remove the connection and create a new one. To remove the connection:

  1. Open the Start menu and click Settings.
  2. Click the "Network & Internet" icon. Click "Manage Wi-Fi settings."
  3. Select the wireless network and click Forget.

To create a new connection, click Add and continue with the steps above starting at step 2.

Windows 8

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. Mouse over the bottom right corner of the screen, and click Settings.
  3. Click the wireless network connection icon and select UARK Wi-Fi.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions, and accept security certificates when prompted.

Troubleshooting note: If you are experiencing problems connecting, remove the connection and create a new one. To remove the connection:

  1. Open the Start menu. Mouse over or swipe in from the upper right corner of the screen, and click Settings. 
  2. Click the Network icon.
  3. Right-click the wireless network, and click "Forget this network."

To create a new connection, click Add and continue with the steps above starting at step 3.

Windows 7

Before creating your Wi-Fi connection in Windows 7, make sure all Windows updates are installed.

Note: Due to possible issues with Windows 7, users are required to add university wireless networks manually.

Add Wi-Fi Network

  1. Open the Start menu and click Control Panel.
  2. Click "Network and Internet." Click "Network and Sharing Center."
  3. Click "Manage Wireless Networks." Click Add.
  4. Click "Manually create a network profile," and enter UARK Wi-Fi in the Network name field.
  5. Select WPA2-Enterprise from the Security type drop-down menu. Click Next.
  6. Click "Change connection settings." Open the Security tab and click Settings. 
  7. Make sure "Validate server certificate" is checked. Check the "Connect to these servers" box and enter "wifiauth.uark.edu" in the field.
  8. Check the "AddTrust External CA Root" box under the Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
  9. Click Configure under "Select Authentication Method." Uncheck the box. Click OK. Click OK again.
  10. Click Advanced settings. Check the "Specify authentication mode" box. Select User authentication from the drop-down menu.
  11. Click OK. Click OK. Click Close. 
  12. Click the wireless connection icon in the Windows system tray. Select UARK Wi-Fi, and click Connect.
  13. Enter your UARK username and password. Click OK.

Troubleshooting note: If you are experiencing problems connecting, remove the connection profile from your device and create a new one. To remove the connection:

  1. Open the Start menu, and click Control Panel.
  2. Click "Network and Internet." Click "Network Sharing Center."
  3. Click "Manage Wireless Networks."
  4. Highlight the wireless network and right-click.
  5. Click Remove Network. Click Yes.

To create a new connection, click Add and continue with the steps above starting at step 4.
