Test Scanning and Scoring
IT Services provides classroom examination scanning and scoring services. Faculty and graduate students can use the self-service or full-service scanning options.
New Scanning Process as of Fall 2018!
Using the imaging capabilities of the Insight 4ES scanner, faculty are able to retain electronic copies of their student assessments, without having to store the physical papers. Through our new process, individual images are saved for each test submission and reports are generated, with all data being stored to Box, and shared (Viewer access only) with the appropriate faculty member.
Scanning services are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Gibson Annex (next to Fine Arts).
Faculty and graduate students can drop off prepared scantrons at Gibson Annex, open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is also a 24/7 exam drop-off location in the vestibule of the Administrative Services Building on Razorback Road.
Instructors are encouraged to drop off exams for scanning, but self-service scanning is also available. Bring exam forms for self-service scanning and results from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. See the self-service scanning instructions for details.
Import Scores to Blackboard
TIPS provides instructions for importing scantron exam scores into a Blackboard Learn course.
Academic Policy 1480.10 states:
"Records and materials collected by faculty as evidence of student performance and learning are the primary source of data for the evaluation of students for grades. Members of the faculty are responsible for maintaining such records as part of their teaching responsibilities. Such records should be retained for two years following the assignment of final grades for all coursework, either by the faculty member or by the department in which the faculty member is appointed, in the event of the faculty member’s leaving the employment of the institution."
