About Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-factor authentication provides an additional layer of security that makes it difficult for unauthorized users to access services, applications and data. UARK accounts can be compromised by phishing scams, automated bots, targeted attacks, etc. Verifying your account with multi-factor is more secure, especially for services that grant access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Heads up! Faculty, staff and student employees are required to use multi-factor authentication when logging into UARK online services like Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.), Adobe, UAConnect, Blackboard Learn, Box and more. View a complete list of applications.

How Tos

Set up your preferred authentication method: Authenticator app, SMS text message or phone call. If you experience issues on any device requiring your UARK login, make sure your Microsoft apps are updated.

How It Works

Multi-factor combines something you know (UARK email and password) with something you have (a trusted device, like a phone).

  1. Log into a UARK online service like Outlook, Box or UAConnect.
  2. Receive a six-digit code on your phone.
  3. Enter the code to verify access to your UARK account allowing you to log in.

At this time, secondary accounts are not required to register for multi-factor authentication.
